Terms of Use

Last updated: 9 June 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and First Serve when you use the app. They keep things fair and safe for everyone. By creating an account or using First Serve, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Who we are, and who can use it

First Serve ("we", "us") is a community tennis app, operated from the United Kingdom. You must be at least 16 to create an account, because the app helps players arrange to meet and play in person. By signing up you confirm you are 16 or older.

2. What First Serve does

First Serve shows court availability gathered from venues' own public booking systems, lets you set alerts, and lets you find other players, arrange games, and play ranked matches. We are not affiliated with any club, venue, or governing body. Availability is provided on a best effort basis and may be out of date or wrong. The actual booking always happens on the venue's own system, under their rules, not ours.

3. Your account

Keep your sign-in details secure and give accurate information. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think someone else has access to it.

4. Community and safety (code of conduct)

First Serve helps you meet other people and play tennis in real life. That only works if everyone is decent about it. When you use the social features, you agree to:

  • Be respectful to other players, on and off the court.
  • Show up when you say you will, and let people know in good time if you can't.
  • Report scores honestly.
  • Not harass, threaten, discriminate against, or abuse anyone.
  • Not impersonate anyone, or set up games you do not intend to play.

Important safety note. First Serve is a way to find other players. We do not vet, verify, or run background checks on members, and we are not present at games. You arrange and attend games at your own risk and use your own judgement. Meet in public, let someone know where you are going, and stop if something feels wrong. We are not responsible for the conduct of any member, or for anything that happens at a game.

If someone behaves badly or makes you feel unsafe, please tell us. We can suspend or remove accounts that break these rules.

5. Ranked play and results

Match results are reported by players and confirmed between them. We are not the referee and do not arbitrate disputes about what happened in a game. Ratings, titles, badges, and the leaderboard are features of the game we run at our discretion, and we may adjust them, for example to correct errors or deal with results entered in bad faith. Do not try to manipulate ratings or the leaderboard.

6. Acceptable use

Use First Serve only for its intended purpose. Do not scrape or bulk-extract data, attempt to break or overload the service, use it for anything unlawful, or post content that is abusive, misleading, or infringes someone else's rights.

7. Content and intellectual property

You keep ownership of what you add, such as your display name and game details. You give us permission to show that information in the app where needed to run the service, including on your public profile and the leaderboard. The First Serve name, look, and software are ours, and court availability comes from venues' public booking systems.

8. No guarantees

First Serve is provided "as is". It is an early ("beta") version and under active development, so features may change, break, or be removed, and you may hit bugs. We work hard to keep it accurate and available, but we cannot guarantee that court availability is correct, that a slot will still be free when you try to book, or that the service will always be up. Always confirm on the venue's own system.

9. Our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, First Serve is not liable for the conduct of other members, for anything that happens at or on the way to a game, for a court you could not book, or for any indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

10. Suspension and ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. We can suspend or remove accounts that break these terms or the code of conduct, or to protect other members or the service.

11. Changes

We may update these terms as the app grows. When we make a material change we will update the date above, and where appropriate let you know in the app. Continuing to use First Serve after a change means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
